Rajasthan Institute of Engineering and Technology Jaipur hosted a talk session on the topic “Nuclear Power in Present Scenario” on 11.10.2017. The speaker on the occasion was Dr A K Nayak.
Dr Nayak, is M.Tech, PhD in Nuclear Engineering and is a scientist (H+) and head of thermal hydraulics section, (SO H+), Reactor engineering division, Professor of Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), BARC, Trombay, Mumbai with 16 yrs of experience in the field. His research areas are Nuclear power safety, Nano fluids application, thermal hydraulics, melt cool ability behavior, design of heavy water reactor, IC engine gas turbo etc. his areas of expertise are Natural Circulation, Flow Instability, Coupled neu tronic-thermal hydraulic instability, passive System Reliability, Melt cool ability, Debris bed quenching, Steam explosion, etc.
Dr Nayak spoke on history of nuclear power programme in India with comparison of fuel consumption in the country. He also spoke on discovery of fission, history of the nuclear power plants in country and in other parts of the world, accidents in TMI Chernobyl, nuclear power in electricity generation and safety and security of the power plants.
The event was enhanced by Dr. Saroj Hiranwal, Principal, RIET, Prof. Kapil Dev Sharma, Dean Academics & Admin, Prof. Sachin Sharma, Vice Principal, RIET, along with all the respective HODs Faculty members and students who participated in the event.
Dr. Saroj Hiranwal, Principal, RIET, welcomed the guests at the onset of the programme. She mentioned that, Dr. Nayak is a renowned scientist and his presence in the institution today is an honor for us all. His lecture will definitely give us an insight into nuclear power energy and its latest researches.
The session proved to be highly beneficial for all the students and faculty members who attended it. Dr Nayak asked the budding engineers to gather the knowledge of nuclear power as it is an essential in the coming time.
